The Berkeley Seal

UC Berkeley’s seal is derived from the University of California’s official seal. It is one of our most timeless symbols as an academic powerhouse. We recommend using it in advancement communications when you prefer a more official university appearance. For something more informal, the Berkeley word mark is sufficient.

Clearance

  • Minimum size ⅞” or 80px
  • Minimum space around seal is ⅛ its height.
The Berkeley Seal, shown here with the minimum space around it allowed illustrated by dotted lines, and the Clearance info in the bulleted list above it included in larger font.

Guidelines

  • Do not alter or recolor the Berkeley seal.
  • Do not crop, rotate, screen, or obscure the Berkeley seal.
  • When used in one-color printing, use the “line” version of the Berkeley seal in Pantone 540 or black.
Seal color

The Berkeley Seal in four allowed colored configurations: Pantone 540 blue/874 metallic, Pantone 540 blue/139 yellow, the line seal version in Pantone 540 blue, and the Line seal n black; also shown is a version where the yellow is too light and the graphic element therefore has a red slash through it.
