Visual Identity & Photos
Photo Gallery
In this campaign, we will be featuring two styles of photography:
Environmental Portraiture
A portrait taken in the subject’s usual environment, such as in their home or workplace, that typically illuminates the subject’s life and surroundings. By photographing a person in their natural surroundings, it is thought that you will be able to better capture their character, and therefore portray the essence of their personality, rather than merely a likeness of their physical features.
General Imagery
By using iconic campus locations such as Sather Tower (the Campanile), Sather Gate, and Doe Library with having a light source either coming from the sun (lens flare) or from provided light can Illustrate UC Berkeley’s lighting the way throughout the campus community and the world at large. Photos of iconic campus locations not only identify the university clearly but also strongly resonate with donors, recalling their years as Berkeley students and reconnecting them to the campus.
You can find more information and some examples in our downloadable photographic style guide.
We have curated several galleries of photographs for your use; you can find additional photos at gallery.berkeley.edu.
